Mars is set to bring back a classic 1980s chocolate bar. The popular treat will return today and stay in stores until December. The nutty chocolate sensation was renamed in 1990 to match the brand name used in the US.

But, Brits will always remember Snickers by its original name... Marathon.

Now, the Marathon bar is making a return. However, it will only be available in Morrisons on a limited run.

It isn't the first time Mars has brought the Marathon bar. In one previous return in 2019 the chocolate treat was so popular that sweet-toothed fans bought over 4 million bars in just 12-weeks.

Snickers was once called Marathon

The Snickers bar was first created in 1930 and was named after the Mars family's favourite horse. It launched as Marathon in the UK in 1967.

Talking about the special Marathon retro edition Steve Waters, Senior Brand Manager, said: "We’re excited to bring back the Marathon bar branding for a limited period.

"It’s a great way to celebrate over 90 years of Mars making chocolate in the UK. We hope fans of Snickers, who remember when it was called Marathon, will enjoy picking it up in store!"
