Critics praised Martin Clunes for his depiction of Detective Colin Sutton in ITV drama Manhunt, which told the story of the capture of serial murderer Levi Bellfield.

Now Clunes has revealed that he could be playing the real-life policeman again, taking on another of his cases.

The Doc Martin star made the show with his wife Philippa Braithwaite through their own production company, Buffalo Pictures.

He told The Daily Mirror: “Manhunt did make me proud, because it was quite a risk for us…

“My wife had spent four years contacting the family members of the people involved and clearing it with compliance, legally.

“Colin was very helpful making it and was around a lot… There is another equally grisly case Colin solved that we are looking into.”

It’s not yet known which case a new show would take on, but among many of the investigations by the Met Police Ex-Senior Investigating Officer was that of serial rapist Delroy Grant, dubbed the Night Stalker.

Grant was given four life sentences in 2011.
