A Martin Lewis fan followed his flight compensation advice and got £630 from Ryanair after their plane was delayed. Tom Earnshaw, who is a LadBible writer, revealed flight disruption is something which has hit him TWICE this year.

While heading to France in the European Union Tom says his Ryanair flight was disrupted by a "technical issue". He wrote: "We were all ushered back inside our departure lounge." Staff said: "There's a technical issue with the plane, it's going to be at least two hours."

He said: "Going by the advice on MSE, and with the flight less than 1,500km as the crow flies, my wife, son, and I were looking at a potential pot of £660 compensation if the delay was more than three hours."

He said: "After getting home a lot later than we had estimated, we lodged our claim the next day. Within 48 hours, Ryanair got back in touch with us to confirm our compensation claim had been successful and would land in our bank within 21 days.

"Given Ryanair is based in Dublin and therefore uses the Euro, a total of £629.33 had been authorised, which converts to €750." On its website, MSE said: "Certain EU/UK-regulated flights are eligible for compensation at a set rate under the UK/EU flight delay compensation scheme. To qualify, your flight needs to check all the following boxes:

"You arrived at your destination more than three hours later than scheduled. The flight was scheduled to fly in the past six years (five in Scotland). The reason for the delay was the airline's fault. So, for example, a staff shortage would be, but bad weather wouldn't be.

"(Not sure? See full info on what's likely within the airline's control.) You may also be able to claim compensation if you've been bumped off your flight due to overbooking."
