Martin Lewis urges drivers to complete questionnaire for free £300
Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert has urged drivers to complete an easy questionnaire that could save HUNDREDS on car insurance. The BBC Sounds star and ITV regular has explained how one motorist managed to claw back £300.
Mr Lewis' MSE team have urged drivers to complete their questionnaire to save on car insurance. Mr Lewis, the Money Saving Expert founder, says allowing your insurance to auto-renew gives your provider a blank cheque to increase your premium each year.
Instead, the MSE team suggest using their Compare+ insurance checker on their website to find the best deal. One MSE reader, named as Mary, reportedly saved £300 and MSE said: "September (and March) tend to be the busiest time for renewals.

"With our Compare+ Car Insurance tool you fill in just one questionnaire, and it gives you a comparison result, shows you the cheapest time to buy, and whether to add an extra driver and check other comparisons, plus more tips to save."
It says: "Our revolutionary car insurance tool is designed to take the hard work out of finding a cheap price. Fill in one questionnaire and get our unique cost-cutting tips as you answer. You'll then get personalised ideas to cut your costs even further..."
Insurance is up more than 34% on last year, according to Consumer Intelligence, with the average premium now costing over £1,000 a year. Insurers say rises are down to rising car repair costs, the effect of inflation and, as the value of used cars increases, more being paid out when cars are written-off.
MSE warned: "So it's more important than ever to make sure you’re getting the best price you can for car insurance. Our Car Insurance Compare+ tool can help you find cheaper quotes." It added: "NEVER auto-renew – check if you can get a cheaper policy elsewhere."
