Martin Lewis urges people who have a mortgage to act 'by later this week'
Martin Lewis has issued a rallying cry to people who have a mortgage, urging them to get in touch with their questions for him ahead of his weekly BBC Sounds podcast. The ITV star and Money Saving Expert spoke out on Twitter, now X.
"Do you have a mortgage question? Want to know whether to fix, or wait, or when to start preparing or owt else? That's the lead subject for my podcast later this week, where Ill be joined by a mortgage broker," Mr Lewis said.
"Together we'll do our best to answer them. So pls suggest Qs by reply." In response, a Money Saving Expert subscriber said: "I have just over 2 months before my existing mortgage deal switches to variable. Is it worth waiting for rates to drop or are there any danger signs rates may go up?"

"I’m due to remortgage with a Help to Buy loan - what would be the best option for including the loan in the mortgage+fixing for. Also I have various third party certificates I need to apply for and get in order to remortgage, so would using a broker be better to get this sorted?" a second said.
"Pay down mortgage or pay into pension and then use tax free lump to pay down later on? From someone in mid/late 40s. Also offset mortgages - are they worth it or does mortgage interest difference make non-off set plus savings a better option?" another said.
And another typed: "My wife and I are planning to move soon. Is there any benefit to using a broker rather than organising a mortgage on the new property myself? I would appreciate examples of added benefits for the obvious cost element."
"I am due to remortgage with deal ending Jan 25. I want to use the equity to pay off my debts & get work done to my house. Is it better to reduce the term to 18 years & pay my budget of £1300/mth or increase the term to 25 years reducing the mthly payment & overpay £150/£200mth," said another.
