Martin Lewis has taken aim at "outrageous" and "sexist" headlines about his wife Lara Lewington.
The Money Saving expert, 52, was speaking on Good Morning Britain as a presenter when he hit out at newspapers for always referring to him when talking about Lewington, who he has been married to since 2009.
It all come about because Lorraine Kelly had introduced Lewington as one of her guests on her show, calling her the "AI agony aunt", while dialling into Good Morning Britain to let audiences know what was coming up on her daytime slot. Lewis seized the opportunity to champion Lewington, with whom he raises their daughter.
What, how and why?
He said: "What we want is those newspaper headlines who always outrageously when she does something put her name in the title not hers. To start learning that she has her own name, her own profession and her own job, and they shouldn't be so sexist! Anyway."
TV host Kelly showed support for the ITV star as she prepared to welcome Lewington on her show. She said: "Well said."
Reid admitted: "Right, that's us told!" Despite Reid's fears, Lewis was quick to reassure her that he wasn't talking about her.
The outburst come about as Kelly introduced Lewington as a guest on her show and Reid was immediately interested to find out more. She asked: "Did you say Lara Lewington is on the show?"
Playfully Lewis joked that Lewington was "following" him to work. The money expert shared his delight at getting to see Lewington before heading out of the ITV studios. He said: "Yeah, she's following me. She's following me. I quite like that. When I finish this, before I go off to work, I get to say hello. So thank you ITV for being so convenient."
Kelly said: "Thank you Mrs Lara!" At this point, Lewis jumped into say he would like Lewington to be recognised for her "own name" and her "own job". Lewington was on Lorraine to show off the gadget that would help the England team sleep better.
