The former Eastenders star believes she didn’t look herself after being unwell with chronic fatigue syndrome which prompted her to book in for some Botox.

Speaking on yesterday’s Loose Women, Martine said:

“I had a really tough time being unwell. I tried to have rapidity but it didn’t go well. It basically showed on my face a lot and I looked ravaged.”

“I just looked in the mirror and thought ‘I’ve always had nice skin, I’ve always had a nice beautiful glow - and now it’s gone’. So I had Botox.”

The 40-year-old doesn’t regret her decision and says that she is pleased with the result and ‘loves’ having the procedure which costs around £200 per area.

However, she says at first she was surprised by what she saw in the mirror saying that initially, she felt she ‘looked a bit strange’.

“I didn’t like it,” she confessed. “It made me look a bit strange. But then I had it again and Oh my God, I loved it, I absolutely loved it, because it didn’t look like I wasn’t me anymore. I just looked like me but not a creased pillow, basically.”

Botox is used to make lines and wrinkles look less obvious by relaxing the facial muscles.

The effects generally last around four to six months and after that need to be administered again to maintain the desired, wrinkle-free effect.
