Marvel has released two previews of its new Disney+ anthology documentary series, titled Marvel’s 616.

Each episode of the forthcoming series will be directed by a different filmmaker, and will focus on a different aspect of the Marvel universe.

The new clips are taken from episodes directed by Gillian Jacobs and Paul Scheer.

Jacobs is best known for her role in the beloved sitcom Community, as well as for starring in Judd Apatow’s Netflix series Love.

Scheer is the creator of Big Mouth, the Netflix animation which focuses on the hormonal travails of a group of pubescent teenagers.

Jacobs’ episode, “Higher, Further, Faster”, features interviews with the women who work behind the scenes at Marvel.

Marvel Entertainment VP Sana Amant talks about the excited response to Brie Larson’s 2019 movie Captain Marvel, which inspired the company to “do more” with the character.

Amant also reveals how the character of Kamala Khan, aka Ms Marvel, was inspired by her own experiences as a young Muslim woman. Ms Marvel is one of the characters to feature prominently in the forthcoming Marvel’s Avengers video game, published by Square Enix.

Scheer’s episode, on the other hand, entitled ”Lost and Found”, takes a look at the reasons why certain Marvel characters were welcomed into the mainstream, while others – such as Doctor Druid, or Typeface – never were.
