Netflix has sneakily revealed the release date of Marvel team-up series The Defenders.

A new teaser shows our four heroes – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage – riding an elevator in Midland Circle, before Jessica (Krysten Ritter) smashes the camera.

The time on the video stops at exactly 08:18:20:17, hinting at the episodes being dropped on August 18, with further sleuthing confirming the date.

By typing the numbers in the top left-hand corner of the video into your browser, you're directed to the New York Bulletin's website, the new workplace of Daredevil's Karen Page.

A handy note at the very bottom of the website reads: "Watch 'Marvel's The Defenders' All Episodes Streaming Only on Netflix August 18."

Mystery solved.

The website also features an exclusive 'interview' with Joy and Ward Meachum, who we were introduced in Iron Fist, and an advert for Colleen Wing's dojo.

Earlier this year, it was revealed how each Defender comes to meet each other at the offices of Midland Circle, an organisation that featured in Daredevil due to them being the location of a massive hole.

"Every one of them is following their own trail of breadcrumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York," explained showrunner Marco Ramirez. "Once they're in that room together, it's kind of like, 'Oh shit, who are you?'"

Marvel's The Defenders arrives on Netflix on August 18.
