Yahoo News Marvelous Mrs Maisel stars break down "vicious" season 5 fight
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is currently airing its fifth and final season, and the latest episode featured a "vicious" fight between the show's two main characters — Rachel Brosnahan's Midge and Alex Borstein's Susie.
Midge is the titular Mrs. Maisel, who embarks on trying to become a stand-up comic, while Susie acts as Midge's manager. However, in season five's sixth episode, Midge and Susie have an argument after Midge finds that Susie sold her number one client out to the mob.
Brosnahan and Borstein spoke about this fight in a new interview with TV Line, saying that the Amazon Prime series' showdown caught them off guard.

"It was tough. It kind of snuck up on us. It was jarring. The fight was vicious. And it was cutting. And [we were] learning [in real-time] just how badly Susie betrayed Midge. [We’re] learning it as [we’re] getting that script," Borstein said.
"This was not a good colour for Susie. She really lied to her partner. [She] betrayed her."
Brosnahan said: "It was the ultimate betrayal — and by the two people that Midge trusts and loves the most in her life. Joel betrayed her, too. The whole thing just comes crashing down."

In the argument, Midge called Susie "small," which Borstein said is a "vicious" throwback to what Susie told Midge in the pilot episode when she said "I don’t mind being alone, I just don’t want to be insignificant."
Perhaps the strongest point of the argument came when Susie called Midge the C-word, however, which Borstein playfully said was very fun to act out.
"I’ll always remember it. When people [ask me], 'What’s your favourite line?' I have to pretend it’s something else. But it’s really that."
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel season 5 is streaming now on Prime Video, with new episodes released weekly on Fridays.
