Marvel's Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani has been cast in a new limited TV series, Homeland Elegies.

Nanjiani, who will also join Ewan McGregor in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off for Disney+ Obi-Wan, has also been confirmed as executive producer for the new eight-part series.

Homeland Elegies is based on Pulitzer Prize-winner Ayad Akhtar's critically-acclaimed 2020 novel of the same name and will see him pen the adaptation, with Oren Moverman in the director's chair.

The official synopsis reads:"Homeland Elegies blends fact and fiction to tell an epic story of identity and belonging in post-Trump America.

"Part family drama, part social essay, part picaresque novel, at its heart it is the story of a father, a son, and the country they both call home."

Marvel's Eternals is one of the casualties of the pandemic, with its release date moving from February 12, 2021 to November 5, 2021.

Nanjiani – who plays Kingo in the movie – has shown his support for the delay, tweeting: "Marvel made the right & responsible decision. There's a pandemic. Nothing is more important than health & lives. I can't tell ppl to go to a movie theater until I feel safe going to one.

"Take care of yourselves. I promise it'll be worth the wait!"

Eternals will now arrive in cinemas on November 5, 2021.
