Maryhill woman admits keeping children in filthy flat with soiled nappies and rotting food
A woman who kept two children in a dirty flat has admitted neglecting them.
Gemma Donachie, 31, had care of a four-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy at her home in Glasgow's Maryhill on October 1 2023. Court papers state Donachie caused the pair to unnecessary suffering or injury to health.
The charge says Donachie allowed her home to become "dirty and strewn with domestic waste." The flat contained soiled nappies and rotting food.

Donachie also failed to provide beds or bedding and did not secure a bedroom door from which access could be gained to public areas. It is said that Donachie failed to make a door safe which hanging insecurely from its hinges and exposed the children to risk of injury.
Medication was also not secured in the property and Donachie failed to provide adequate food preparation and washing facilities.

Donachie pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the two charges of wilfull neglect.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month where more information surrounding the circumstances will be heard. Donachie was granted bail meantime.
