Murder squad detectives are investigating the death of a middle-aged man found stabbed on a bus in Marylebone.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene in Gloucester Place in the early hours of Friday.

They arrived to find the man, believed to be in his 40s, with a fatal stab wound on a route 189 bus at about 12.10am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are still at the location, near Dorset Square, and an investigation is under way.

Police have taped off the street and a forensics tent was erected next to the double decker.

No arrests have been made.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "Detectives are still at the location and enquiries are underway into the circumstances of when and where the stabbing took place.

“The Homicide and Major Crime Command has been informed.

"Next of kin have not yet been informed."
