ITV debuted the dancing-themed spin-off to its hit series The Masked Singer, and for its premiere, The Masked Dancer was just as spectacular as the original.

Hosted by Joel Dommett, it kicked off tonight (29 May) with the first six dancers battling it out against each other in a face-off, with Zip vs Knickerbocker Glory, Beetroot vs Llama and Viper vs Scarecrow on the match card.

Knickerbocker Glory, Beetroot, and Viper each got the lowest number of votes in their face-off and ended up in the bottom three, with the judges deciding to save Knickerbocker Glory and Beetroot.

It was then Viper's turn to remove their mask, revealing themselves to be Diversity star Jordan Banjo, with Mo Gilligan and newbie judge Oti Mabuse both guessing right.

Other guesses by Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall included Tommy Fury and Anthony Joshua, which delighted the dancer.

"I just want to chuck this out here now, this entire experience was worth it just to be called Anthony Joshua."

When Joel asked why he decided to take part, Jordan said he wanted to have a good time after the last year of lockdowns and restrictions.

"The past year everyone has been in a place where it hasn't been fun, and something like The Masked Dancer, and coming on here, dressing up stupid and having a laugh. Let's just have some fun, man," he said.

As the show continues every night for the coming week, fans can look forward to more celebrities popping out from under the masks.

Host Joel Dommett previously told OK Magazine that there are some really big names to watch out for: "There are some amazing reveals. One in particular completely took us all by surprise. You just wouldn't expect someone like this to do the show. It's the biggest reaction we've had."

The Masked Dancer will airs on ITV. Episodes will continue to air nightly across the coming week, except Wednesday, June 2.
