The Masked Dancer US spoilers follow.

The Masked Singer spin-off The Masked Dancer has unveiled its latest celebrity contestant, after last week's surprising Bill Nye the Science Guy reveal.

After giving it their all in a performance to 'Sway' by Michael Bublé, Moth became the third Masked Dancer hopeful to be eliminated from the competition – but who was the star behind the mask?

Judge Brian Austin Green was the only member of the panel to call it, with Paula Abdul, Cheryl Hines, Ashley Tisdale, and Ken Jeong all guessing incorrectly. The right answer? American activist and reporter Elizabeth Smart.

Smart was abducted from her home in Utah at just 14 years old. After being held captive for nine months, she was eventually rescued by police officers, and has since used her experience to advocate for missing persons and campaign for sexual assault victims.

Sharing her reason for joining the series, Smart told Variety that she wanted to show audiences that she isn't always "serious".

"I don't think most people, even that know me well, would ever guess that I would do something like this," she admitted. "Life should be happy as well, not just serious all the time.

"I want to have a happy life too, as much as I want to have a meaningful life connected to positive change and education and prevention. I'm okay if other people see that side of me."

The Masked Dancer continues Wednesday, January 20 on FOX in the US.
