Masked men armed with crowbars targeted a delivery van in broad daylight in Leicestershire yesterday (Wednesday, September 25). The driver of the van, a man in his 60s, was pulled from the vehicle by two thieves wearing balaclavas when he was attempting to make a delivery in Cornflower Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire Police said.

The culprits then stole an unspecified number of parcels from the van, before making off in a grey Audi A3, the force added. The delivery driver was fortunately uninjured.

The suspects fled towards Carnation Road and onto the A6004. Leicestershire Police is now asking for anyone in the area at the time of the theft, around 8.40am, and who might have witnessed it, to come forward to help them identify the culprits.

Detective Constable Sadie Adams said: "“At the time this incident occurred this area of Loughborough will have been busy with people commuting to work or dropping children at school. If you were in the area yesterday and saw the incident occur or people in the area acting in a manner that seemed unusual or suspicious, please get in touch.

"I'm also keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen the Audi leaving the area – if you were driving past at the time and have a dash cam you may have captured footage that could be useful to our investigation."
