Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts has been crowned the winner of The Masked Singer.

The 34-year-old popstar was unmasked as Queen Bee on the ITV singing show, which sees celebrities perform for a live audience and panel of judges, while hidden inside costumes.

Roberts said: "Literally last time I sang like this must've been Popstars: The Rivals. And when I found out [Davina] would be on the panel, I said yes!"

Roberts found fame on Popstars: The Rivals as part of Girls Aloud, with Davina McCall as presenter of the TV talent show back in 2002.

The judges had rumbled Roberts with Rita Ora guessing her identity, while Jonathan Ross and McCall opted for other Girls Aloud members Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle. Ken Jeong guessed Cheryl Cole.

The judges all hailed Roberts for her amazing vocals.

Asked how she felt about winning the show Roberts said: “‘I feel sick!”

And she joked she was “thankful for the mask” because it hid her facial expressions when performing.

Since Girls Aloud split in 2013 Roberts has pursued a solo music career but has also opened up about her personal battle with anxiety.
