The Masked Singer US has unmasked another celebrity after Baby Alien was eliminated.

Baby Alien had an unusual yet charming costume – the first puppet in the US show's four seasons – but their performance of Imagine Dragons track 'It's Time' sadly failed to impress, resulting in their exit from the competition.

The celebrity had the last laugh, though, as their identity stumped all of the judges.

Guesses included Eric Bana, Freddie Prinze Jr, and Jason Biggs, but they were all significantly off the mark as Baby Alien turned out to be retired American football player Mark Sanchez.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mark said that he wasn't surprised nobody could guess who he was.

"I thought the clue package was so hard," he explained. "I obviously know it's me, but I still second-guessed it a couple times when I watched the clue package. I was like, 'Wait, what?'

"Yeah, that was tough. And I think the accent totally threw everybody for a loop. They thought maybe [I was] Sacha Baron Cohen or something like that. I knew they wouldn't guess me."

Mark added that he was happy with how his fake Eastern European accent confused the judges further, and loved the challenge of having such a unique costume.

"I'm always up for trying to grow and make myself a little uncomfortable and stretch those boundaries as best I can. So this was right up my alley," he said.

The sports star also described the show as a "great experience" and gave him "a deeper appreciation for the arts and for performers".

Last week saw Giraffe unmasked as actor Brian Austin Green, although afterwards he joked that Robin Thicke was "terrible" at guessing given that the pair are close friends in real life.

The Masked Singer US continues next Wednesday (October 7) at 8pm on Fox. The show's UK equivalent airs ITV.
