The Masked Singer's latest episode saw mysterious contestant Daisy revealed to be Kelis, after she lost out to Monster in the kooky show's sing-off. Now, the US singer has explained that the ITV series has some bizarre rules behind the scenes.

While appearing on Lorraine this morning (27 January), the 'Milkshake' hitmaker explained that the celebs taking part in the show weren't allowed any contact with each other. So much so that they actually "have no idea what's going on" during filming.

"The weirdest thing is just being there and being quiet. We weren't even allowed to watch other people's performances," she added.

Kelis even went on to claim that singers were encouraged to wear t-shirts that read, 'Don't speak to me' while walking around on set, and that their identities were kept so secret that she spent most of her time confined to her trailer with nobody to keep her company.

Inspired by the South Korean version of the same guessing show, The Masked Singer sees judges Jonathan Ross, Ken Jeong, Rita Ora and Davina McCall attempt to guess who's who from a line-up of performers in some very elaborate costumes.

Each week, whichever contestant fails to wow the general public (and therefore gets the lowest votes) is unmasked at the end of the show and eliminated from the competition.

As it stands, Queen Bee and Unicorn, who are widely thought to be former Girls Aloud star and Dancing on Ice's John Barrowman respectively, are said to be the frontrunners to win, but we're going to have to tune in to see.

The Masked Singer returns on Saturday (February 1) at 7pm on ITV. Earlier episodes are currently available on ITV Hub.
