Mason Greenwood's probable Manchester United departure more advanced than Jadon Sancho's

Mason Greenwood could be one of the first sales at Manchester United this summer while Jadon Sancho continues to generate intense interest.

Well-placed sources say Greenwood's probable departure is more "advanced" than Sancho's, with United engaged with multiple clubs over both forwards.

Greenwood, 22, spent last season on loan at La Liga side Getafe but Italian clubs Juventus and Napoli have expressed interest. Serie A side Lazio came close to signing Greenwood on loan last year.

German and Italian clubs are keen on Greenwood and Sancho. Borussia Dortmund have held dialogue about both players, having re-signed Sancho on loan in January.

United's decision to retain Erik ten Hag as manager ended any remote possibility of Sancho playing for the club again and the departure of coach Edin Terzic has not affected Dortmund's desire to keep Sancho next term.

Nuri Sahin, who played with Sancho at Dortmund in the 2017-18 season and was assistant to Terzic, has been promoted to manager.

United value Sancho, 24, at £40m and are seeking a minimum £30m fee in compliance with the profitability and sustainability rules. Ten Hag noted Sancho's value had increased through his involvement in Dortmund's run to the Champions League final, where they were beaten by Real Madrid.

Sancho has not played for United since August 26 after he publicly accused Ten Hag of lying over his omission from the matchday squad in the defeat at Arsenal on September 3. Ten Hag said Sancho had been dropped due to his training form.

Greenwood last played for United in January 2022. He was arrested later that month before charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm were dropped in February 2023.

United had intended to reintegrate Greenwood back into the first team squad but a backlash from supporters forced them into a U-turn and he signed for Getafe on transfer deadline day in September.
