'Massive bang' heard before emergency services descend on area near M62
A neighbour heard a "massive bang" as a crash closed a road near to the M62 in Liverpool. Emergency services attended a crash on Bowring Park Road near to the corner of Orchard Avenue in Broadgreen on Saturday afternoon, November 16.
A red Skoda had sustained significant damage after a crash involving another car. Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service had to remove the front door before cutting off the roof of the car to get the person, who was conscious and breathing, out and into an ambulance.
The person was taken to hospital. A Merseyside Police force incident manager said the person had suffered minor injuries.

One person living near to where the crash took place told the ECHO: "It was a really massive bang - a really loud bang around half five. I went out later and the emergency services seemed to be under control.
"There were fire engines, ambulances and ambulance cars. It looked like one of the cars was facing the wrong way on the road. They closed off the whole area and nobody could get past."
The Skoda was facing away from the road's direction of travel and had sustained damage to its windscreen, multiple doors. It appeared that its roof had been cut off. Debris was also strewn across the road.
A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told the ECHO: "Fire crews were called to a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) on Bowring Park Road, Liverpool L14 this afternoon. Crews were alerted at 4.43pm and on scene at 4.49pm, with two fire engines and the search and rescue team in attendance.
"Crews arrived to find two cars involved in a collision, the driver of one vehicle was out of the vehicle on arrival conscious and breathing, the occupant of the second vehicle was conscious and breathing but confined to the vehicle.
"North West Ambulance Service were also on scene. Crews stabilised the vehicle and removed the front driver’s door to allow access for paramedics and on the advice of paramedics, removed the roof of the vehicle and extracted the casualty using a spine board to be taken into the care of paramedics for onward transport to hospital.
"Merseyside Police were also on scene managing traffic. Crews left the scene at 5.31pm."
Diversions were in place before the road was reopened to traffic at around 7pm.
