Massive Swarm of Bees Rescued after Buzzing Around Times Square

The NYPD cordoned off part of a block in New York’s Times Square to allow beekeepers to contain a large swarm of bees on June 9.

Michal Samuni Blank, who recorded and shared this footage to her Instagram account @mickmicknyc, told Storyful that for a brief moment, the swarm was “like a smoke of bees, because they were everywhere, all you saw was bees.”

Blank said the large swarm flew around for 15 minutes, adding that “nobody got stung, nobody got hurt, I had bees all over me and none of them were harmful.”

Once the bees started gathering together, Blank said she called the NYPD, as she remembered that they handled similar incidents in the past, who promptly arrived and handled the situation.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Blank said. Credit: @mickmicknyc via Storyful
