Rory McIlroy will return to Augusta this week and begin his bid to clinch the only Major which has thus far eluded him.

The Northern Irishman has endured many tough days at the Masters and is again among the favourites, but Dustin Johnson’s charge to the top of golf's world rankings will be cause for concern.

Champion Danny Willett goes into the event in much the same shape as last year - an outsider for the £1.4million winner's cheque.

After hosting Tuesday's Champions Dinner, the 29-year-old will turn attentions to becoming the fourth player to win a second straight green jacket.

LEADERBOARD

DATE, TIME AND VENUE

The Masters tournament starts on Thursday, April 6 and will run until Sunday, April 9.

The first Major of the season is staged at Augusta and will include four rounds - one each day, with half the field cut after two rounds.

If the leaders are tied after four rounds, a play-off will determine the overall winner and recipient of the green jacket. The players with matching scores will play holes 18 and 10 in rotation in a sudden death format.
