The BBC’s sporting schedule has been thrown into turmoil after a number of presenters boycotted Saturday’s programming in solidarity with Gary Lineker who was stood down from Match of the Day.

A host of sports presenters and pundits pulled out after Lineker was told to step back from hosting the Premier League football highlights show in a row over his criticism of the government’s new asylum policy.

Football Focus and Final Score were pulled from their schedule at the last moment and BBC Radio 5 Live will be affected as the fallout continues.

Match Of The Day will still air on Saturday but will be a stripped-down version of the regular show.
