Matt Baker films at Northumberland landmark and gives health update on mum after accident

Matt Baker was delighted to get to film at a famous Northumberland landmark for the latest episode of his hit show Travels With Mum and Dad and, ahead of the latest episode airing, gave an encouraging update on mum Janice's health, following a serious accident on the family's farm a few years ago.

Best known to BBC viewers of all ages for being a presenter on both Blue Peter and The One Show, Matt's latest bit of television success arrived after he was forced to move back home to County Durham to help with the farm, after Janice was trampled while working on the land, leaving her with significant injuries and unable to work.

TV cameras followed Matt and his family during the testing time, with the result being hugely popular series Our Farm in the Dales, which ran for a number of series and even had its own Christmas special. Since then, Matt, Janice and husband Mike have been on screen in Travels With Mum and Dad, which returned for a new series at the end of last month.

The latest episode saw the trio visit Cragside in Northumberland, with Matt waxing lyrical among the well known attraction on Instagram to his followers, as he wrote: "On Monday night me, mum, dad and Archie are off to Cragside - the home of William Armstrong what an inventor! If you’re a fan of Caractacus Potts like me you’ve got to watch!"

Prior to the episode airing on More4, Matt also spoke candidly about Janice's accident and her recovery, telling The Sun: "She's doing good, and it was a bit of a blessing in disguise really. Because you know as your parents get older, farming is a really tough job and you just can't keep going at that level.

Matt added that things "were going great now," with Janice seen in good spirits in Travels With Mum and Dad, which will continue its latest series next week, with an episode in Scarborough, an old family favourite of Matt's dad Mike.
