Matt Damon's new Brooklyn penthouse set him back a record-breaking $16.75 million

Matt Damon’s new $16.75 million penthouse is record-breaking. According to The New York Post it's the most expensive apartment in Brooklyn, a borough already known for its high-priced real estate.

The 48-year-old star and his wife, Luciana, have snapped up a six-bedroom condo at The Standish in Brooklyn Heights.

They'll be in good company. The Standish is already home to Mary Louise Parker, Lena Dunham, and Paul Giamatti.

The previous record for the most expensive piece of Brooklyn real estate was held by photographer Jay Maisel, who paid a whopping $15.5 million for a Cobble Hill townhouse back in 2015.

Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany also shelled out $15.5 million last year when they bought a townhouse nearby. In recent years, downtown Brooklyn has become stuffed full of celebrities keen for the slightly more relaxed, kid-friendly pace of life the borough has to offer.

Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Williams, Rose Byrne, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Emily Mortimer now all call BK home.

Damon's new home is located on the 11th and 12th floors of the building and includes the rooftop.

The apartment features bathrooms with rain showers, natural brass fixtures, and freestanding tubs, according to a recent listing. In the building there's also a fitness area and playroom for kids, where Damon’s daughters can mingle with fellow celebrity progeny.
