Matt Hancock denies Dominic Cummings’ claims

Health Secretary Matt Hancock fired back at Dominic Cummings’ scathing claims about his handling of the Covid pandemic. Hancock gave evidence to MPs at the science and health committees on Thursday. During a joint inquiry at the end of May, the prime minister’s former chief of staff accused Hancock of lying to Boris Johnson over coronavirus plans. Cummings claims Hancock lied to Mr Johnson about elderly people being Covid tested before being sent back to care homes from hospitals. The health secretary completely denies the accusation. Hancock also rejected Cummings’ claim that he blamed PPE shortages on Chancellor Rishi Sunak or NHS chief Sir Simon Stevens. The Health Secretary also stated that he knew Dominic Cummings wanted him sacked from his job last year and has no idea of the origin of their feud.
