Matt Hancock gets put through hell on the upcoming series ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins’.

The 44-year-old politician - who served as the UK's health secretary during the COVID-19 pandemic - finished third place on last year's edition of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ but "worked like a barbeque rib" along with the rest of the cast of the upcoming series of the Channel 4 military endurance show, according to its host Rudy Reyes, which was filmed before his stint in the jungle.

The 50-year-old army veteran told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Well, let’s just say that all the celebrities worked like a freakin’ barbeque rib from my hometown of Kansas City.”

Matt is due to appear on the series alongside the likes of former 'Dancing on Ice' contestant Michelle Heaton, model Danielle Lloyd as well as 'Pop Idol' runner up Gareth Gates and an insider explained that he had approached bosses himself to negotiate a deal for taking part.

A source said: “Matt impressed 'Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins' producers when he spoke to them and they want him to take part. He would be the biggest name to have signed up for the next series and it would be a real coup for the show.

"Matt knows there is a mixed perception of him in the public eye and he thinks going on the show would reveal a different side to himself. It is not unusual for MPs to take part in these kinds of shows and Matt thinks he could go far on SAS, despite it being the hardest of all the reality series on television."

'Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins' will air on Channel 4 later this year.
