Matt Hancock hits back at Dominic Cummings’ explosive claims that he should have been sacked as health secretary during the Covid pandemic. He was responding to an Urgent Question tabled by the Labour Party in the House of Commons on Thursday. Cummings alleged during a committee hearing on Wednesday that Hancock had lied to colleagues about testing elderly hospital patients for Covid before they were discharged to care homes. The health secretary did not respond directly to the specific allegations. Mr Hancock admitted that his role “has become a little easier' since Mr Cummings left Downing Street in November of last year. Jeremy Hunt, the health select committee chairman who questioned Mr Cummings on Wednesday, backed Hancock to remain in post.
