Matt Terry hints at X Factor return days after his competition victory
Matt Terry may have only just won The X Factor but he’s already hinted about a return to the talent show in 2017.
Err… wait, what?!
The 23-year-old singer, who triumphed over runner-up Saara Aalto to release his debut single ‘When Christmas Comes Around’, has revealed his hopes of continuing to work with Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger in the future.
In a bid to beat The X Factor curse, the Bromley-born heartthrob has pitched himself as a guest judge on the next series of the ITV music competition.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper about his cunning plan, he said: “I don’t think the show is a curse, it’s all down to you and how hard you work. I plan on working extremely hard to be a successful artist, I would love to continue to be involved with the ‘X Factor’ and future contestants.
“[My mentor Nicole and I] are so close and after our victory we will remain close and I’ll remain part of the family. We will see what I can do but to be at the Judges’ Houses with her would be a dream, I will do what I can to help out.”
Discussing his time on the show further, Matt then shared his recommendation of keeping the same judging line-up next year, citing Simon, Nicole, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh as the “perfect panel.”
He explained: “I think I had the perfect panel, the best it has been. Nicole was so great and such a good mentor, and Sharon was so fun and so involved with her acts. I think I was really lucky to get who I did on the panel and I’d keep it the same.
“Every time I saw Sharon in the corridor she’d stop me and grab me and say: ‘Oh I do love you Matt.’ It was just a great bunch of people this year.”
Matt might be eyeing up a spot at Judges’ Houses, but he’s set to pack his bags and box his belongings before then, as he’s reportedly moving into a flat share with fellow X Factor contestant Freddy Parker.
The BFF’s – who were forced to deny relationship rumours after THAT kiss – are said to be moving in together in London just weeks after the grand finale of The X Factor 2016.
A source told The Sun: “The boys get on so well and were both planning on moving into London anyway so decided to move in together.
“Matt’s not shy about telling people. He’s moving in with his best mate so he doesn’t see it as a big deal.”
Congrats on your new home, guys — we’ll look out for plenty of Instagram and Snapchat posts from inside the man cave!
