Matthew McConaughey Says He Won't Run for Texas Governor 'at This Moment'

Matthew McConaughey won’t be running for Texas governor “at this moment”, he said in a video statement released Sunday, November 28, after previously considering the position.

The Hollywood actor said earlier this year that he was considering running for the office. He did not specify any party.

In the video statement released Sunday, he said, “As a simple kid born in the little town of Uvalde, Texas, it never occurred to me I would one day be considered for political leadership. It’s a humbling and inspiring path to ponder. It is also a path that I am choosing not to take at this moment.”

He said he would instead support entrepreneurs, businesses and foundations that he believes are “leaders” and establishments he says are “creating pathways for people to succeed in life”.
