Maura Higgins has admitted she "can't wait" to see Pete Wicks now that she has left I'm A Celebrity and is "so proud of him" for still being in Strictly Come Dancing.

Former Love Island star Higgins was voted out of the jungle on Thursday night but said that she is looking forward to seeing Wicks back in the UK after revealing during her time in camp that she was missing him.

Both TV stars have refused to confirm whether they are in a relationship but Higgins said again that she was missing him and that they had been supportive of each other's TV contests in an interview with This Morning.

What, how, and why?

Maura Higgins and Pete Wicks have both played their cards close to their chests when asked about rumours that they are in a relationship, but during her time in I'm A Celebrity Higgins let slip that she was missing the Towie star and now she has admitted she "can't wait" to see him.

Higgins was voted out of the jungle in a double eviction with Barry McGuigan on Thursday and in an interview with This Morning after her exit she spoke about her pride at how well Wicks was doing in Strictly Come Dancing after he became a surprise semi-finalist.

As This Morning host Alison Hammond asked about comments Higgins had made in camp about missing Wicks, she replied: "Didn't take you long to ask that question Alison did it! You do forget about the cameras and I do like to keep things private but let's be real, I've said the words I miss him. I do miss him, like I missed all my friends and family, but honestly he's been so supportive."

Hammond cheekily asked whether she could be a bridesmaid for Higgins and Wicks, and she laughed: "You can be a bridesmaid Alison, ok, for gods sake."

She added: "I didn't know of he was still in Strictly, I'm so proud of him, he's proud of me and I can't wait to see him when I get back."

Higgins had spoken to GK Barry in the ITV show's camp about having been photographed kissing Wicks, but had added: "I'm single. People can date and not be in a relationship and take things slow."

Meanwhile, Wicks has also avoided questions about dating Higgins in interviews about his time on Strictly.

What else did Maura Higgins say about I'm A Celebrity?

Higgins confirmed that this year's I'm A Celebrity campmates had been a harmonious group as she said: "Honestly I didn't see grumpiness form anyone, everyone just pulled together as a team.

"It's very rare to have such a big group of people and everyone to get on so well. I think I heard something about Jane (Moore) and the washing up — she wasn't even bothered, the woman worked so hard in there."

Talking about her reasons for doing the show, she said: "The one thing I really wanted to do was face my fears. It was one of those shows I always wanted to do at some point in my life. I faced my fears, I hate every type of bug but spiders, I hate spiders. Before I went in I said 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here' will not come out of my mouth, and I forced myself."
