Bank holidays are the perfect time to get family and friends together for a BBQ (weather permitting) or a good old fashioned booze-up.
Whilst some of us may like to think we’re organised when it comes to getting the groceries in, let’s face it – most of us end up leaving it all until the last minute.
And our lack of organisational skills are made even worse by the fact that most supermarkets adjust their hours or close completely on Monday, and no one wants to be left without empty cupboards.
So this year it’s time to be shopping savvy and to help you out, we’ve put together a guide of the opening hours of the UK’s most popular supermarkets this bank holiday weekend.
Tesco opening hours
Bank Holiday Monday (May 27th)
• Stores in England and Wales will be open from 9am - 6pm
• All Express stores will be open usual hours.
• Tesco Extras and Superstores in Northern Ireland are open from 10am - 7pm.
• Tesco Extras and Superstores in London are open from 8am to 8pm.
• Tesco Extra stores in Scotland are open as normal. Selected Superstores open 8am - 8pm.
• Tesco Metro stores open 9am - 6pm.

ASDA opening hours

Sainsbury's opening hours
The supermarket chain says that all of its stores will be open over the May bank holiday, but opening times vary by location.

Morrisons opening hours
Store opening times vary from region to region over the weekend.
It is advised that customers check the opening times of their local store here using the store finder.
Aldi opening hours
A spokesperson for the store confirmed that on Saturday, May 25 stores open from 8am-10pm and on Sunday, May 26 this will be 10am-4pm.
Stores will will be open from 8am until 8pm on Monday, May 27. Visit the chain's store finder to check your local store.
Lidl opening hours
Store opening hours will vary by location. Lidl recommends that customers check their local store here.
Waitrose opening hours
A spokesperson confirmed that Waitrose shops will trade during normal hours on Saturday and Sunday.
On bank holiday Monday, the majority of Waitrose supermarkets will be open from 9am-6pm, with some opening from 8am-8pm and a few opening from 10am-4pm.
All Shell and Welcome Break stores will trade as usual.
