Yahoo News Mayim Bialik leaves hosting gig due to writers' strike
The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik has decided to stop filming for the game show Jeopardy! in solidarity with the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike.
According to Deadline, the actress has chosen not to complete her Jeopardy! hosting duties for the final week of filming. Production will still go ahead with Bialik's co-star Ken Jennings as host.
The news comes after confirmation that all of the Jeopardy! writers would be joining the WGA picket lines.
Earlier this month, the WGA began its first strike in over 15 years, following a dispute over pay. The WGA previously went on strike in 2007, which lasted for 14 weeks.

The guild is advocating for better residual payments for writers following the rise in streaming services.
"Driven in large part by the shift to streaming, writers are finding their work devalued in every part of the business. While company profits have remained high and spending on content has grown, writers are falling behind," the WGA said in a statement (via Deadline).
"The companies have used the transition to streaming to cut writer pay and separate writing from production, worsening working conditions for series writers at all levels."
The guild has not confirmed how long the strikes will last. Production on projects like Severance season two, Daredevil: Born Again and Community: The Movie is set to be disrupted.

Bialik is best known for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory. Most recently, she played the titular role in the comedy series Call Me Kat, which is largely based on the UK sitcom Miranda.
Following news of the show's cancellation after three seasons, Bialik revealed what her ideal ending for the show would be.
"Kat and Max live happily ever after, Randi and Carter get married and do the same and Sheila is forever in everyone's life bringing joy and wisdom. And Phil lives on forever," she said.
Call Me Kat airs on Fox in the US.
