The Maze Runner star Dylan O'Brien's new movie Love and Monsters, which was recently confirmed to be skipping cinemas, has been given a first look.

The sci-fi was originally slated to be released on the big screen in February 2021, though was recently brought forward for a digital release on October 16 of this year.

We've now been given a proper first look at Love and Monsters in a new trailer, which sees O'Brien's character Joel Dawson set out into the world to find high school sweetheart Aimee (Jessica Henwick) amid a monster apocalypse.

However, along the way he meets a heroic dog as well as expert hunters and survivalists Clyde (Michael Rooker) and Minnow (Ariana Greenblatt), who help him learn skills in order to survive.

Among their arsenal is a samurai sword, while the monsters that they all face look pretty terrifying too.

The movie will be available on VOD platforms in the US for a 48-hour rental period, priced at $19.99, and will also be made available for early digital purchase for $24.99. However, there is no news on a UK release as of yet.

"Given the demand for new, high-quality entertainment right now, Paramount has decided to release Love and Monsters widely on digital platforms," Paramount COO Andrew Gumpert previously said of the decision to release the movie digitally.

"While we eagerly look forward to the reopening of movie theatres, we wanted to make this original and imaginative film available for everyone to enjoy at home."
