If your hungover Sundays generally consist of trudging in your sunglasses to the nearest McDonald’s, prepare to save yourself some serious hassle: the fast food chain has finally launched its long-awaited home delivery in the capital.

After months of teasing us with plans to roll out the service, the burger giant has revealed that it will be partnering with Uber’s food delivery service, UberEats, to deliver Big Macs and French fries to hungry Londoners.

McDonald’s will be trialling the home delivery service in 22 outlets across the capital, as well as 10 restaurants in Leeds and Nottingham.

Restaurants involved in the trial include Victoria, Camden, Brompton Road and Kings Cross.

Customers who live in a 1.5 mile radius of the participating McDonald’s restaurants can place their order on the UberEats app, and their order will be delivered fresh to their door by one of Uber's delivery drivers.

Even better, the service is running from 7am to 2am - meaning you can order from the breakfast menu and have your Egg McMuffin from the comfort of your bed.

The idea of the trial, says McDonald’s, is to see if it’s viable to offer are larger scale delivery service in the country - allowing the restaurant teams to feedback what works and learn from what doesn’t.

Claude Abi-Gerges, who owns five of the McDonald’s franchises that are taking part in the trail said: “Delivery is something that my customers often ask about so it’s exciting that we’re now up and running with McDelivery in a selection of my London restaurants.”

The news comes after McDonald’s recently rolled out a new app which allows customers to save menu preferences and order their favourite foods when they visit a chain.

On arrival, they can ‘check in’ with their smartphone at a digital scanner and have their order delivered to their table

The burger chain also already runs delivery services in China and Singapore.

The company has previously made it known that they have their sights set on the on demand service industry, releasing a statement saying: "One of the most significant disruptions in the restaurant business today is the rapid increase in delivery. Through technology, delivery has changed the way customers order, pay, track and receive food and provide feedback.

"Coupled with the explosive growth in third-party delivery companies, the landscape has created an exceptional opportunity for growth. Because of our extraordinary footprint, McDonald's is uniquely positioned to become the global leader in delivery."
