McDonald’s runs out of milkshakes and bottled drinks in UK

McDonald’s has run out of milkshakes and bottled drinks in its UK restaurants due to “supply chain issues”. The fast-food chain has apologised to customers and is “working hard to return these items to the menu as soon as possible." The beverages are temporarily unavailable in its 1,250 outlets in England, Scotland & Wales. The shortage comes after Nando’s was forced to close 45 restaurants due to a lack of chicken. The company blamed staffing shortages at suppliers and a lack of lorry drivers. Rival giant KFC is having similar issues and is unable to stock certain menu items. The UK is currently dealing with a supply chain crisis as a result of a shortage of lorry drivers due to post-Brexit EU immigration rules. The problem has affected supermarkets, restaurants, and retailers.
