McDonald's has announced plans for a new branch in Chepstow. The fast food chain hopes to build a restaurant and drive-thru on the Newhouse Farm Industrial Estate located just off the M48.

Local residents have been urged to have their say on the plans in a public consultation which runs until Thursday, November 7. The plans say that the new McDonald's restaurant would create up to 120 jobs.

As well as a restaurant and drive-thru, the site will include 45 car parking spaces. This will include two accessible bays, two electric vehicle charhing points and two motorbike spaces.

The proposed restaurant could prove popular in the Forest of Dean, which has no McDonald's, with Chepstow just a short distance from the Gloucestershire border. The Welsh town is 30 minutes from Cinderford, 25 minutes from Coleford, but only 17 minutes from Lydney.

The proposal reads: "McDonald's is preparing plans to build a new restaurant and drive-thru on the vacant land at Newhouse Farm Industrial Estate in Chepstow.

"A modern restaurant would improve local food options, as well as provide a boost to the local economy, whilst complementing the other businesses in the area.

"The layout of the site has been carefully designed for the operation of a restaurant and drive-thru, maximising the queue lengths on the restaurant site to reduce traffic impacts on neighbouring roads.

"We are pleased to launch a 14-day community consultation on these plans to provide local residents with the opportunity to have their say on McDonald's proposals for Chepstow."
