McDonald's horror as dad 'finds metal' in daughter's Happy Meal burger

A horrified father claims he found a piece of metal in his two-year-old’s McDonald’s burger. Luke Thomas said the Happy Meal discovery was "really concerning".

The dad panicked after claiming to find the sharp shard and "pulled the burger apart". He said it was "hard to tell" where it had come from but suspected it may have come off a scraper.

Mr Thomas said "luckily" his toddler was "fine" but said he returned the meal to the restaurant in Cwmbran town centre and told staff what had happened. WalesOnline reports that McDonald's has now launched a "thorough investigation".

Mr Thomas said: “I thought it was really concerning. It was a hard piece of metal. I don’t know if it came off with a scraper or where they cut them. I took it back to Cwmbran and they said they had it delivered to head office but I’ve not heard anything.

"It was like a solid piece of metal but it was like something you could cut yourself with. It’s hard to tell where it’s come from. I panicked and pulled the burger apart. Luckily she was fine.”

A McDonald's spokesperson said: “Food safety is of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control, following rigorous standards to avoid any imperfections. We would like to apologise to the customer as on this occasion it would appear we have fallen short. A thorough investigation is under way and the customer is in touch with our restaurant’s management team and customer services to help find a resolution.”
