McDonald's has confirmed the return of a popular item to the menu. The fast food chain has announced the new "fan favourite" menu in celebration of the Monopoly game.

The promotion gives diners the chance to win some incredible prizes, such as shopping vouchers and free meals. Recent years have seen customers win everything from a free burger to flat-screen televisions, cars and holidays. The Monopoly game begins at the golden arches on September 4 with a number of popular items returning to the menu .

The Philly cheese stack rejoins the menu for the first time since it launched in Autumn 2023. It will be joined on the new menu by the chicken Big Mac, which was a hit with diners last time it was available.

McDonald's urged diners to be quick as a spokesperson said: "A twist on the classic Big Mac we all know and love with its reassuringly recognisable triple layered bun – plus two 100% chicken breast patties in a crispy coating, a slice of cheese, lettuce, pickles, and the deliciously world-famous inimitable Big Mac sauce.

They added: "The Chicken Big Mac caused a frenzy on its debut launch in February 2022 - leading it to sell out in in days after customers just couldn’t get enough of it. So be quick this time!" The Philly Cheese Stack is described as McDonald’s cheesiest beef burger.

The fast food chain's version of the famous Pennsylvanian sandwich features two succulent beef patties with a cheese sauce, cheese slice, grilled and crispy onions and pickles served in a toasted bun. The spokesperson added: "With pleas, prayers, and petitions last time to make the Philly Cheese Stack permanent menu item, it’s sure to be a winner again!"

Mozarella dippers are also making their anticipated return to the menu. It's not just the savouries getting a revamp as September 4 will also see the return of the Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry and Twix Caramel McFlurry.

The McDonalds has launched the new menu in celebration of the Monopoly game, which has been a huge hit with diners since it first launched in 2005. The concept works in a similar way to the classic Monopoly board game as customers have the chance to win prizes by collecting game pieces from menu items such as fries, wraps, drinks and McFlurrys.

On Wednesday, September September 4, the game returns to restaurants nationwide for SIX WEEKS!"

It added: "Never fear, McDonald’s MONOPOLY game fans, Winning Sips and Surprize Fries are not the only games McDonald’s has lined up this year. Get ready for EVEN MORE fun as McDonald’s announces the long-awaited return of the MONOPOLY game, under license from leading toy and game company Hasbro, to all restaurants on Wednesday September 4!"
