Lizzy Caplan is reportedly joining the X-Men Universe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Mean Girls actress is in talks to star in Gambit.

The recently married actress has been involved with Marvel before. She appeared in the 2012 short film Marvel One-Shot: Item 47, which was released with the Avengers Blu-ray.

But its thought this role will be substantially bigger – and NGL, we're pretty excited.

After a severely delayed release due to several production setbacks and then script changes, Gambit is now looking at a February 2019 release.

The movie will star Channing Tatum as the New Orleans-based mutant with some pretty impressive kinetic energy powers and an unconventional weapons calibre.

After several directorial changes, Gambit will be helmed by Gore Verbinski in the director's chair, after both Doug Liman and Rupert Wyatt bailed from the project during the lengthy pre-production phase; with Liman quitting to work on a DC movie instead (ouch).

Back in September, it was revealed that the first working title for the film was Chess, in ode to Gambit's namesake as a power play chess move.

However, it's now reported that the working title has been changed to Forevermore, which is no doubt a tongue-in-cheek reference to how long the movie has been in production.

Gambit should be in cinemas on February 14, 2019.
