Mechanic Neil Trotter Revealed as £108m Euromillions Lottery Winner

The British winner of the £107.9m jackpot on the Euromillions lottery has been revealed as 41-year-old car mechanic Neil Trotter.

Trotter, from Coulson, South London, scooped the jackpot last week and became Britain's fourth biggest winner with the numbers 6, 24, 25, 27, 30 and lucky stars 5 and 9.

He was so confident he would win the top prize that he told staff at his father's office how "this time tomorrow" he would be a millionaire.

After he realised he won, both he and his girlfriend, Nicky Ottaway, 33, quit their jobs. Trotter told reporters he plans on spending his money on a fleet of supercars and funding his passion for British touring car racing.

He told a press conference: "I've always thought I'd win big and I'd had a good feeling all week.

"On Friday evening we were sitting at home when I checked the time and thought the draw must have taken place by now. I took out my ticket to check the winning numbers and amazingly one by one they matched. I told Nicky, my partner, 'I've done it, I've won the lottery'.

"But she told me to shut up and to stop being an idiot.

"Apparently I turned white as a sheet and couldn't sit still, I kept walking round the house – I didn't know what to do with myself. I got her to check the numbers with me and she started screaming."

He added both he and Ottaway have no plans yet to marry following his huge lottery win. The couple have been together for the past eight years.

Trotter said he is aware of the connection between his surname and that of Del Boy and Rodney from BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses.

"Me and my dad thought we'd heard all the Only Fools and Horses jokes but I can see this is going to run and run. Still, being Trotters, we were always going to be millionaires one day," he added.

Trotter's win makes him the fourth biggest Lottery winner and gives him a fortune bigger than that of singers George Micheal and Robbie Williams, according to the Sunday times Rich List 2013.

The biggest UK lottery winners are Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs in Scotland, who won a £161m Euromillions jackpot in July 2011.

The second biggest went to Adrian and Gillian Bayford from Haverhill, Suffolk, who won £148m in August 2012. However, the pair split up soon after winning the jackpot, citing the money as one of the reasons.

The third biggest jackpot of £113m in October 2010 went to a winner who wished to remain anonymous afterwards.
