Mechanic says drivers can use seven-word phrase to 'never' be ripped off
A mechanic has issued the seven-word phrase to say to a garage which will mean drivers are NEVER ripped off. Motorists can mitigate the chances of being ripped off amid the Cost of Living crisis with a handy phrase, Car Wizard - a YouTube star - says.
"The customer had a warning light on the dash that said 'system warning', and the owner took it to a mechanic who said all kinds of things are wrong, it's going to be expensive and not to drive the car. It was a scare tactic," he said.
"Rather than fall for the trick, the customer said 'I'm going to get a second opinion', and I'm so glad they did because it's not going to be super expensive, and there was no reason why they couldn't drive their car."

He added: "So Mrs Wizard theoretically comes to a workshop with a car that has a little oil filter like this and here I [a scammer] come out a big oil filler that is full of metal shavings, trying to sell them a new engine. It's not even going fit in that car.
"I have seen this happen in real life, it isn't a made-up scenario, it really has happened. Make sure you understand the basics of your car like the kind of oil filter it has, because you can get taken for a ride very quickly."
He said: "This actually happened to one of my uncles. He took his Camaro in and knew that it took this fuel filter, he took it off for a service before taking it in for an oil change. When they [the mechanics] came in, they had something that was completely wrong for his car.
"He was like 'I don't know where you got that filter, go and put it back on the shelf, I only want an oil change'. He was almost yelling at them, because he knew they were playing him on them."
