Meet Britain’s Loneliest Dog Who Desperately Wants A Home

Every dog has its day.

But spare a thought for Freya, who is still waiting for hers.

The six-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross is waiting to find a home after being overlooked by 18,000 potential new owners.

That’s how many people have passed through the Freshfields Animal Rescue centre in Liverpool since Freya has been housed there.

But even though she has 700 friends on Facebook, she can’t yet find an owner.

Freya has been diagnosed with epilepsy, meaning her handlers are even more worried about her finding a forever family.

Deputy kennel manager Kate Jones, 35, said: “Freya was brought into the rescue as a young stray but nobody came forward to claim her.

“She has been here many years now and is constantly overlooked, which breaks our hearts as we adore her. We do not understand why she has been overlooked for so long.

“Every year we update her age on the website and it absolutely breaks our hearts to see her getting older and has never had a home.

“She is a beautiful girl, so loving and friendly. She is our big baby.”

Freya’s epilepsy means she requires medication and blood tests every three months.

“We are left wondering if this is going to hinder her chances even more of finding a loving home,” said Ms Jones.

“We sincerely hope this does not put people off giving her a home, after many years here she thoroughly deserves to find a loving family.

“We would be delighted to see Freya go to her forever home, like every dog deserves.”

Freya has been earmarked for an adult-only home that doesn’t have any other pets.

Ms Jones said: “She loves a fuss and getting her belly tickled.

“Her bursts of love when she sees someone is just pure excitement as she loves people so much.

“We are sure that she will make the most wonderful friend if only someone will give her the chance she so desperately needs and deserves.”
