Despicable Me 3's new trailer has revealed that the threequel has a sibling surprise in store for Gru.

It turns out that the retired supervillain (voiced by Steve Carell) has a long-lost twin brother Dru that he never knew about, until now.

And what's worse, Dru has HAIR.

The trailer sees Dru persuade Gru to go on one final heist, much to the delight of Gru's Minions who end the trailer with the cutest slideshow as they compare their old master to his new ways.

As well as sibling rivalry, Despicable Me 3 sees Gru tackle his most formidable nemesis to date in the form of Balthazar Bratt, voiced by South Park and The Book of Mormon's Trey Parker.

Based on the new trailer, it seems that Gru's battle with the '80s-obsessed villain on a ship that we saw in the first trailer leads to Gru becoming unemployed.

Balthazar is a former child star who's grown up to become obsessed with the character he played in the '80s, meaning he uses everything from keytars to Rubik's Cubes as weapons.

We're guessing that Dru either turns out to be on Balthazar's side or helps Gru defeat his new nemesis by the end of the movie.

Despicable Me 3 is again directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, co-directed this time with Eric Guillon. Alongside the returning Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove and Russell Brand all reprise their roles in the new movie.

The film is out in cinemas on June 30.
