Meet Hamburgirl Z: The Burger-Themed J-Pop Girl Band

If you like burgers and you like pop music, then you are in for a treat.

The latest sensation on the Japanese pop music - or J-pop - scene is Hamburgirl Z, a girl band with a burger theme.

The band has 15 members and each one symbolises an ingredient from a burger recipe.

These include beef, tomato, lettuce, pickle, pineapple and egg. There are two members who represent onions.

Hamburgirl Z has a goal of selling pop records but also food: the band’s manager is also the head of the West Japan Hamburger Association. The group started off promoting the burgers of Awajishima Island in Japan.

Have Hamburgirl Z bitten off more than they can chew? Or will they become the tastiest thing in pop music? We’ll have to wait to find out.
