Meet the Paisley performer who has been wowing Buddies with his tricks after being inspired by Dynamo the magician.

Aidan Boyd, 23, has been producing magic tricks since he was nine – and says the art of quick hand has always fascinated him.

Now hoping to make a career out of it after impressing people in Paisley, the magician has opened up on how Dynamo was the catalyst to his dream.

“I have met Dynamo a couple of times and he is super friendly,” he told the Paisley Daily Express. “I was supposed to meet him at a book signing in Glasgow and I took the day off school to meet him, but his flight was cancelled and he couldn’t make it.

“But he was doing a signing in Carlisle that same day and, that afternoon, I phoned my best pal and we went down to meet him.

“He was so friendly when I met him and he took the time to listen to me tell him about my journey and he couldn’t believe it. He even let me do a trick in front of him which was amazing as he was the reason I got into magic.”

Aidan works at a music shop in the town but is progressing in his career as a magician. He says that when he meets people and tells them that his job is a magician, their eyes tend to “light up” as they ask for a trick.

The young talent is also part of the exclusive group Paisley Magic Circle where magicians meet up to discuss new tricks and ideas. Aidan mostly focuses on card tricks and looks to his fellow magicians for ideas on how to improve when they meet.

Being one of the youngest members of the group after joining when he was 14, Aidan says that if it wasn’t for the people in the group, he wouldn’t be looking to pursue a career in the industry.

“A lot of the members are really supportive of me given how young I am,” he said. “They know I have a passion for my art and give me the time of day to listen to what I have to say.

“You have all types of magic tricks in there; some do doves, others are cups and then you have cards. If it wasn’t for the members then I don’t know what I’d be doing as they have been a great network of support for me.

“Paisley Magic Circle has been a massive part of my life. Getting to watch other magicians perform, watching them talk you through their ideas, it has been amazing. It has been absolutely huge for me and my career.”
