The team behind some of Glasgow's best doughnuts are opening a brick-and-mortar shop in the city centre.

Coffee fans may have encountered Doh Doughnuts at some of the city's top cafes like The Good Coffee Cartel, Frankie's, or French Monkey.

Now, partners Lynsey Graham and Lisa Banks are thrilled to open their first shop next to Shawarma King on King Street.

Lynsey, 33, said: "It doesn't feel real. I don't think we are actually going to believe it's happening until we make the first sale and the first customer comes in."

Lynsey and Lisa launched Doh in 2020 after a chance encounter with a stray bag of bread flour.

Lisa has a background working as a chef, but over lockdown, the industry slowed and her hours got cut back, leaving her with a bit of extra time on her hands.

The 33-year-old said: "My boss had bought the wrong bag of flour.

"Instead of buying plain flour, he bought bread flour. I told him we couldn't use it so he said to just take it home.

"On the side of the packet, it had a recipe for doughnuts, which put the idea in my head."

Lynsey and Lisa made doughnuts in the house for the first time and were amazed at how good they tasted.

Having always wanted to start something of their own, the idea for Doh was born.

Lynsey said: "Our main dough is a proper American, brioche-style yeasted doughnut and we have a main vegan range as well.

"Part of what we wanted to do with the shop and with the branding was inclusivity and sustainability.

"We wanted everyone who was vegan to have the same choices."

Popular choices include a core classic range including cinnamon sugar and glazed.

They also stock more deluxe flavours like millionaire shortcake and maple pecan pie and letter-shaped doughnuts for special occasion messages.

Lisa said: "At the moment, with us being wholesale, we have to have a set menu for people to order from.

"But in the shop, it will be up to us what we serve, so we're planning on doing more specials.

"We'll still have the same things for people that want to come in every day, but we're planning to do some more wacky stuff."

Customers will be able to dunk their doughnuts into a selection of gourmet coffees made using beans from The Good Coffee Cartel in Cessnock.

Lisa and Lynsey have been keeping things local, working with Glasgow-based tradespeople, suppliers, and artists to bring the shop to life.

Lynsey said: "We've tried to use local people for everything, like local to Glasgow. That was a big thing for us."
