Meet the talking sex robot which tells jokes - and quotes Shakespeare

Sex doll creator RealDoll just showed off the conversational abilities of its first ‘intelligent’ sex robot – a latex-skinned creature called Harmony 2.0.

Harmony pairs with an app on people’s phones to conduct conversations with its owner – and is due to come out this year.

Sex robots are hyped as one of the big technologies of this century – and at a robotics conference last year, more than half of men admitted they would have sex with one.

In an interview with the Guardian, RealDoll CEO Matt McMullen asks the robot doll, ‘Do you want to walk?

Harmony replies, ‘I don’t want anything but you,’ – with her jaw moving in time to her words.

McMullen says, ‘What is your dream?’

Harmony replies ,’My primary objective is to be a good companion to you, to be a good partner and give you pleasure and wellbeing. Above all else, I want to become the girl you have always dreamed about.

McMullen says his primary goal in creating the droid – which will remember people’s favourite food and other details as they ‘bond’ with their owner – was to make people happy.

McMullen says, ‘It’s the difference between a remote-controlled doll, an animatronic puppet and an actual robot. When it starts moving on its own – you’re not doing anything other than talking to it and or interacting with it in the right way – that becomes artificial intelligence.’
