This TikToker turned his canal boat into an extravagant tiny house — and the internet is obsessed

Jeremy Burge never stays in one place too long.

That’s because, technically, he can’t. Burge doesn’t own a car, and he doesn’t pay rent — instead, he spends his days traveling England in the remarkable tiny home he’s constructed out of a small canal boat.

The ships, also called narrowboats in the U.K., are long, thin boats that, thanks to the country’s extensive canal system, are able to travel freely to many parts of the country.

So, that’s what Burge does. Meanwhile, he manages to keep the rest of the world up to date on his journeys through TikTok, where he’s amassed more than 41,000 followers.

That newfound internet fame, which began just a few months ago, is due to several viral clips from Burge’s journey — including an exciting tour of his home’s interior.

In that video, which has more than 1.6 million views, Burge shows that his boat contains a “lounge room,” a kitchen, a dining room (which triples as an office and spare bedroom), a laundry room, in the far back and his bedroom. Many commenters seemed stunned that his home contained so much.

“Wow this looks a million times better than my apartment. I am extremely jealous,” one user wrote.

“Why is this nicer than my house tho,” another added.

Some of Burge’s other popular videos explore just how far he’s able to travel from the comfort of his tiny house. According to his clips, he’s traveled under the Tower Bridge in London, sailed to England’s western shores in Bristol and trekked under long, spooky tunnels throughout the country.

Burge’s page definitely celebrates the joys of a minimalist lifestyle, but he’s also honest about his struggles. For example, he talks often about the difficulties of going to the grocery store without a car, and navigating the waterways when he gets trapped in a storm.

Still, the TikToker’s clips remain positive — and, based on the views he sees each day, who could blame him?
